  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Barmee -- An easy to read - but vital - reference book : I’m a middle-aged, middle-class, white British male who, until fairly recently, had an embarrassingly flimsy knowledge of Black British History. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on January 31, 2021 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Online-Inquirer -- After 17 years it's finally in print! : Patrick Vernon's 2003 "100 Great Black Britons" list was at once a revolution and a necessity as it redressed the BBC's "100 Greatest Britons" recent televised pole. It was exciting and encouraging to see that the list which honours the remarkable achievements of key Black British individuals throughout history, included the Roman Emperor Septimius Severus and that he ranked as highly as 25 on the original list. It's taken almost 20 years and the Herculean effort of a small but dedicated core team to bring this beautiful and brilliant book into being and I hope it's continually curated and regularly published going forward. • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Joy -- An intriguing and very recommended read for people of all ages : So absolutely pleased with my copy purchased of the 100 Black Britons book, which has wonderfully been released in time for Black History Month UK 2020. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 21, 2020 )
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars from C. Prezza -- Nothing spectacular : A good idea but most achievements are condensed into 2-3 pages. If you just had the list of people you could probably find out more about them from Wikipedia. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 22, 2020 )
  • 5.0 out of 5 stars from Gerald -- great introductory reference sourc : The book is an alphabetical list of 100 British people (living and dead) that have achieved a level of notoriety through their actions and or words. The book provides a snapshot of some of their achievements along with subjective, positive, but bias remarks that often focus on shocking racist experiences they have faced and their efforts to affect positive change. This it is believed, was done in an attempt to personalise and give insight to the outward persona of the persons discussed. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 30, 2020 )
