I am someone who has gotten back into horses after a 20 year hiatus due to family life and this book brings into life the way humans and horses should interact. I have always believed in working with a horse to understand their language and their emotions and she brings into light so many issues that have weakened peoples perceptions of how to handle a horse and gives people the understand how to actually bond with your horse. Eleine has a great fun way of writing and taking you along in her stories and as a bonus you learn a great deal about how you can make the bond with your horse stronger. Her love , kindness and passion for horses is so genuine. Her stories of working with Ozzie and Matilda make it so relatable. If you truly listen as you read this book you can feel the relationship with your horse change in your mind, you go to the barn with a different perspective. Schneck -- Thought provoking book that helps set the ground work for further listening to your horse! : After losing my heart horse in April, I adopted a retired young Standardbred mare. She is just the sweetest girl and I did not want anyone tainting that with harsh, ineffective “training” techniques. Elaine’s methods speak to me and this book along with the workbook allows you to work at your own pace, on your own time. I never understood how anyone could just “jump” on a horse and expect it to respond favorably all the time. Just like my dogs, cats and husband, I feel like you have to get to know them, understand them and communicate with them in order to have a successful relationship. I feel Elaine helps readers accomplish that relationship goal. This is setting the ground work to further work her method and I intend on purchasing the training program for my husband and I to work with our girls. She was really keen to learn as much as possible so she could establish a good relationship and get things right from the start. We have both read this book from cover to cover and have also gone back to certain sections when things have come up. Our pony has been with us for 6 weeks now and in that time we have done lots of ground work and walking together as she hasn't been backed to ride yet.
